Rebecca Moreland ladies and gentleman! So proud of her. Her song ‘Far from Heaven’ is now #41 on the Adult Contemporary charts! Not only am I happy because I played drums on this but also because it shows that hardwork really does pay off. When she first presented this song to the band, we had to transcribe it and make it our own. Playing it live was actually the first step, but stepping into the studio was an entire different ordeal, and not to mention with different players. She elected me to assemble the band and go to work on tracking 4 fresh new tunes.. My original plan was to merge different players of diff genres together to transcribe from the demo’s what they heard, and create their own interpretation. Not a totally bad idea because we weren’t originally set on a ‘style’ or even a ‘sound’ so my idea was to create one. We also didn’t have a set producer, so it was very important for everyone to really examine intensely what they were doing as a musician/player and mesh it with the music.. This theory sounds good but we ended up having to re-track this tune about a week after recording it.. Did some x and minuses, additions subtractions, and after a very very frustrating day in the studio we were able to make it happen! Sometimes good things take time. It can sound ‘good’ after one take but for it to be ‘special’ it takes an extreme amount of focus, attention to detail, and a well written song! Go Rebecca! Proud of the team! We have some new tunes coming as well that sound REALLY good! Stay posted I’ll definitely keep you guys updated!

Back at it! Just finished up another session with the Justin Kalk Orchestra. I’m really excited about this album! We went in Blackbird and recorded 12 fresh new tracks! Due to release soon. I am also really excited about this project because it is more hands on. I was apart of the writing process and laid down some backgrounds as well.. We are working with a dynamic, Grammy award winning producer on this project, so this is sure to take a turn for the best. Stay posted, stay patient. In the mean time we are tentatively putting together a new tour for the fall, so definitely coming to a city near you! Oh yea great show with these guys this past wknd at Atlanta’s 99x Unplugged in the Park. Awesome food, awesome hospitality, awesome crowd, great show!
My first full project from start to finish. 12 tracks! A lot of artists, producers, like to use 10 different drummers and players on one project so it’s a rare opportunity to be privilege to play an entire album start to finish, and was an amazing stepping stone for me to overcome at that point in my career (3 years ago). The fact that we only had two days to rehearse and two days to track made this even more special! Playing with one of my good friends Stonewall Jackson on guitar (AMAZING) and other very talented players made the process a lot easier! Check it out! Hope you can dig it. Recorded a session with Rebecca Moreland sometime last week at Blackbird Studios. I’ve had the pleasure of working at Blackbird a few times prior and this experience as usual did not disappoint. Rebecca has been around for a while, I’ve had the pleasure of traveling the country with her. As of now she’s focusing her talents in the studio. She just put out a fresh single (which I recorded) ‘Far from Heaven’, and it comes with an amazing video. We recorded three more new songs as well! This was my first official ‘special appearance’ at a night club. This was in celebration of Deshun Smith’s BDAY. I played drums alongside a DJ. What a fun night! Hopefully more of these are coming soon. I love the spotlight!
William Davenport. Many many people from Nashville are familiar with this name. I had the pleasure of working with this Neo-Soul, ‘straight-up’ ‘old-skool’ R&B artist. The first gig was as an opening act for signed Atlanta artist ‘Algebra’ at Lucy Blu in Nashville. We followed up with an additional performance the next night. A few weeks later we would be privileged to play a charitable benefit at the Adventure Science Center just to stay versatile. Had the privilege to record with Scott Revey a couple weeks ago at ‘Belmont Studios’. Great experience at this above average studio. We’re currently working on his new EP due to drop in the fall this year! He combines the element of Bruno Mars meets a ‘whole lotta pop’. I played my first live show with him a few weeks ago at Nashville’s ‘Mercy Lounge’. Great turnout, and great show, and what better way to follow that up then jumping right into the studio?
